How it works

How raisearch turns one query into one set of results.

raisearch is a metasearch aggregator. It does not crawl the web itself. Instead, it asks several established search engines your question and combines what they return. Here is the journey of a single search.

1. Your query

You enter a search at raithe.ca. That query is handed to the raisearch service to process.

2. Asked everywhere at once

raisearch sends your query to multiple upstream search engines in parallel — all at the same time, rather than one after another. Asking in parallel is what keeps results fast even though several engines are involved.

3. Merged and de-duplicated

Each engine answers in its own format. raisearch normalizes those responses into one consistent shape, then removes duplicates — the same page found by three engines becomes a single result, noting where it came from.

4. Ranked into one list

The combined results are ordered into a single ranked list and returned to you. One query, many engines, one clean answer.

Why aggregate at all

Any single search engine shows you only its own view of the web. By combining several, raisearch widens that view — and because raisearch sits between you and those engines, your search experience is shaped by © RAiTHE's priorities, not by any one provider's.

raisearch is operated entirely by Raithe Industries Inc. The service runs on our infrastructure and is maintained by us.
